Transit Effectiveness Project logoWelcome to the website of the Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP)—a collaboration between the SFMTA and the City Controller’s Office that represents the first top-to-bottom review of San Francisco's public transit system in over a generation. TEP recommendations are designed to make Muni service more reliable, quicker and more frequent. To learn more about the TEP, click here.

What's New:

SFMTA Board hears public comments on TEP Staff Recommendations

At its September 16th meeting at City Hall, the SFMTA Board of Directors heard comments from over 100 community members and stakeholders about the Staff Recommendations of the Transit Effectiveness Project. The Board will continue the TEP calendar item at its next meeting in late October, at which it will consider the endorsement of the proposals (click here for meeting details). Following any requisite environmental assessments, approved changes could be implemented as early as July 2009.

Comments on the Staff Recommendations may be submitted to the SFMTA Board of Directors:

Muni Ridership Data Available Online

Ridership data for each weekday service bus and rail line is now available online at www.sfmta.com/tepdata. From October 2006 to June 2007, the SFMTA captured a tremendous amount of information on its bus and rail lines, including exactly where customers are boarding vehicles and how many people are riding the system throughout the day.
